David's Slack Allotments
Open day- every year we open the allotment to the public, for a chance to share what we produce on site. The day involves many stalls selling fruit & veg, cakes, Bric & Brac, books, raffles with hot and cold drinks being serverd from 'Potters Rest'.
Entry for the day is free
Bonfire night- plot holders only event as the nights draw in we come together as an allotment to have a bonfire, homemade food and warm drink to keep the chill out.
Youth organisations- As a society we want to use the allotment to inspire and teach the next generation of gardeners so we open the site to local youth organisations to come see what we do and how food they eat is grown.
If you run a youth group and would like to come on site for a tour please contact us on the site phone to arrange a visit.
Apple press- Plot holders event as the summer whines down we gather up the apple crop to cut, mash and press the apples. To make David’s Slack allotment home grown home made apple juice. The day includes cakes and a BBQ and is another great event to bring the whole site together.
This years press takes place on sunday 27th August
All proceeds from the day go towards the Macmillan nurse’s charity
